About the job

You will do this by connecting with other developers and sharing your knowledge and experience about CockroachDB and other leading technologies at conferences and meetups, and on forums, blogs, podcasts, and social media. Your work will foster, inspire, and support the CockroachDB community, will drive our strategy around developer love and adoption, and will influence Cockroach Lab’s participation in the cloud native space and the larger data management industry.

You Will
Build and execute evangelism programs that successfully deliver content, brand awareness, and community building by managing our engagement at developer-focused events, online channels and communities, and on social media.
Manage our Forums (including Discourse, Slack, GitHub, Stack Overflow) to create the most positive user experience and foster continued adoption. We strive to respond to every user, to nurture and foster positive developer onboarding and continued experience.
Present at user group meetups and conferences.
Support CockroachDB product and engineering efforts by sharing what you learn from application developers and in the community.

The Expectations
In your first 30 days, you will evaluate the existing Cockroach Labs community and our efforts within it and in the greater community. For your next 30 days, you will focus on communities largely consisting of application developers, full-stack software engineers, and the “language” communities (Java and Python in particular). You will begin to take ownership of our community channels and execute on strategies to engage deeper within these areas and measure success and developer satisfaction.

After 90 days, you will be fully integrated into the team. This includes submitting CFPs, speaking at events, helping mentor at hackathons, and engaging on forums and at conferences with architects and application developers in our user community.

You Have
Application development experience and basic knowledge of java or python
Ability to build demos, presentations, sample apps, and content for technical audiences
Extensive experience and comfort presenting to groups

A natural affinity to forge relationships with developers and integrate & engage with developer communities
A collaborative spirit and an ability to problem-solve

Lisa’s career has been spent building developer and marketing programs at Cloud Native, Analytics, and Enterprise Software market-leading companies and start-ups. Lisa is an advocate and frequent speaker for Diversity & Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and open source technology, a writer, an avid sports fan, loves wine and dogs, and of course architecting open source cloud native communities.
